Smithfield is noted for its many farms and orchards, and was once known as Apple Valley because of all the local apple orchards, such as Steere Orchard, Appleland Orchard and Pleasant View Orchard, which are still active today. One of the oldest active local farms is Jaswells Farm, where you’ll find fresh picked produce, fresh baked goods (apple cider donuts!) and a nice assortment of uniquely Rhode Island food products.
